This facility dyes material and this is a sample of their red dye wastewater. The pH was 10.46 and Floccin 1108 was used at a dosage of 2 grams/1,000 ml (16.7 lbs or 7.6 kg). The treated pH was 6.7. The water was then filtered followed by ozonation to remove the rest of the color.

Not usually associated with wastewater treatment “green” is never more appropriate than when applied to an already existing practice, industrial wastewater treatment.

Think about it. Back in the day, industries had plentiful water, no regulations and would produce as fast and as cheap as possible, dumping wastewater usually in the nearby river. Then something became apparent. That practice and practices like it were destroying our way of life ultimately. It’s not that “destroying the environment” is accurate because there is no “the” environment there is only our one earth “our” environment and pollution isn’t a desirable thing in our environment.
So anyway, waste water treatment started, so in a way, industrial wastewater treatment in and of itself has always been a “green” practice.

The time has arrived to post more high quality industrial wastewater treatment information to reach more people. The very cool and effective Floccin™, series of superior flocculating agents, and how they can save a ton of money in industrial wastewater treatment. Very educational, but more importantly facilitates environmental compliance. Worthy of sharing.
The interesting thing about the treating of wastewater and the way industry approaches wastewater is the evolution that is occurring in the thinking about wastewater, or water, or manufacturing and industry in general.
No longer do we think that each “waste” product is a necessary evil meant to be discarded as cheaply and easily as possible. Now, we can think of “waste” as raw material, waste = raw material, for the processing cycle. In any industrial wastewater treatment process there is a huge potential, and it in terms of profit maximizing, is mandatory, for recycling of wastewater, or waste water recovery.
This sounds a lot like “waste = food” coined by William McDonough back a few years, and it is. The difference is of course that we look at the waste as a raw material specific to the industry, food for industry is after all the raw materials needed for production.
I hope to be posting information in general about various approaches to industrial wastewater treatment, and various trends, but the most exciting thing is that industry is seeing the value of industrial wastewater optimization and the value of the paradigm shift to holistic thinking about treatment of wastewater, big picture thinking, weak link approaches and feedback loops.
In one sense, wastewater discharge envrionmental regulations and their compliance has spawned, or supported, this shift. Government responsibility (very rare I hazard) can sometimes have a positive effect on things like wastewater treatment, but I ain’t advocating too much government, just observing one rare positive effect, less is more in my view…
